The F-11 Tiger was one of the first supersonic jets of the US navy, flying off aircraft carriers. From 1957-1969 it was used by the Blue Angels flight team.
But on September. 21, 1956, it became known for something else: the first jet aircraft to shoot itself down!
During a test firing of its 20 mm cannons, Pilot Tom Attridge fired two bursts midway through a shallow dive — only to catch up with the rounds on their descent. The jet was disabled and had to crashland — thankfully, the pilot survived.
When we get too busy in life, and move too fast, we can shoot ourselves down.
